A letter to the Department of Inertia and Hopelessness of Life.
Return to sender: the illumination that is all your own.
We all have a secret loneliness. It’s issued cosmically and annually by the Department of Inertia and Hopelessness of Life—have you written them as many letters as I have?
I’ve gotten so tired of waiting decades for a response that I wrote a letter to myself pretending an answer to my cyclical patterned darkness (incl. feelings of hopelessness, trembles and cries).
*****
Dear Ms. Markul,
Thank you for your many well-written inquiries and valued feedback. We take your existential concerns seriously and understand the frustrations that life brings from time to time.
We do confirm that within you and within every human being exist a thousand if not a trillion combinations of light and dark patterns brought together to create undeniable beauty, a meaningless yet profound understanding and a set of actions you must take in order to lead you nowhere yet everywhere within.
Yes, you will eventually die.
We do apologize that we can’t confirm what type of flower you were in another life. One more thing—we suggest you cut back on the chocolate, sarcasm and cynical attitude.
Sincerely yours,
Department of Inertia and Hopelessness of Life
PS. Your decision to purchase ‘vegan’ combat boots for ‘extra bonus points’ will be taken into consideration.

So…
Within our secret loneliness, helplessness and despair lives an ocean of creative inspiration, of undiscovered energy, compassion, joy, love and inexpressible meaning.
But the longer it lays dormant, the more tangled and steep the path to unleashing it seems. Until it is pursued it is possible that this LHD disorder will translate into things like confusion, anger and fear and will only continue to force feed our ‘horrification’ of life.
We can learn about ourselves through our interactions with others, through nature, through life. We can continue to ask questions, and we don’t have to take any of the answers seriously.
We don’t even have to get upset when the answers don’t appear clearly. The path is always there. It is ours. Every step of the way the Earth will continue to support us as it has done our entire existence.
Could we call that love?
You can continue to be horrified by life or you can learn to flow with reflective grace and continuous awareness toward the discovery of your true self. You can also get a pair of vegan combat boots, eat chocolate and discover the intimate life of flowers. All three help.
Every human being has exactly what they need to be who they are (stay tuned for more on non-human beings).
You have everything it takes to be you. You are forever a flower in the process of growing, a butterfly ever unfolding out of the cocoon.
Perhaps every attempt to discover, to be, to live who we really are is the planting of a seed in our most important garden—our life. The more we use it, seek it, ask for it, the more it will grow.
