What Are You Waiting For? If You Were Looking for a Sign, Let This Be It.

What are you waiting for?

Are you waiting for the night to end itself? For the light of day to creep into your sleepy eyes and bring you back to life? Are you waiting for a gust of wind to remove the covers, for the birds to dress you like Cinderella and your fairy godmother to make all of your wishes come true?

What are you waiting for?

Are you really waiting for him to change? Are you waiting for his heart to grow softer and his words to decode into the fairy-tale dream you’d always hoped for?

Are you waiting for the passion to ignite and the cracked mirror to vanish, and for trust and hope and faith to magically restore itself within your shaking hands and wounded heart?

Are you waiting for the wall between you to explode, creating a new constellation into the sky, or perhaps a meteor shower bringing light to even the longest, darkest nights?

What are you waiting for?

Are you waiting for the opportunity to grow legs and a mind of its own and find your address from a dusty phone book covered with coffee stains and dog-eared pages? Are you waiting for the rest of the world to realize how much amazing you are keeping locked within your swirling thoughts and back-burner dreams?

Are you waiting for the stars to align, for the timing to be just right, or for that thing that’s meant to be to find its way?

Maybe it’s lost.

Maybe you’re lost.

Maybe we’re all lost.

But sitting around and waiting to be found won’t get you very far.

Waiting for things and people and times to change will leave you running in circles over and over and over again.

It’s time for a change.

Be the change.

The night won’t end itself, but you possess a light within you that will make your darkest nights feel like star-filled explosions on the fourth of July.

He’s never going to change, and you can wait around and hope for the best, or you can realize that you already are the best. You can learn to love being alone, or you can spend your life with someone who makes you wish you were alone.

The opportunity won’t grow legs, but, lucky for you, you have a set of your own. You have beautiful legs and a beautiful mind and I think it’s time you unlocked your amazing, picked your dreams up off the back-burner, and used the passion in your heart to set them on fire. Let the fire in your future burn brighter than the ashes of your past, and help all of your meant-to-be’s find their way.

You are the way.

The timing will never be perfect,

The circumstances will never be just right, and

In the end, everything might not be okay.

But, I can tell you this.

You are already perfect,

Your wrongs will lead you to the land of just right,

And, in the end, maybe you’ll be glad everything turned out okay.

Or maybe you won’t,

Maybe you’ll be glad it turned out to be so much more than that.
