Our Field of Blush. {poetry}

If I sat you in a field of my blush,
would the tip of your nose turn crimson?

Would your DNA,
snakelike,
unspiral?

‘Cos believe me,
I’ve mapped what I thought
might be the pulleys and counterweights
of your chemistry.

I’ve pinned up your separate parts:
butterfly wings on a barren science fair project board,

All in the attempt of getting at you.

To distill an essence that is coated in your story,

dyed by your dreams,

made rich and heady and bumblebee-buzzy-drunk
by the specific passion
that catalyzes your personal road map.

And if I sat you in that field,
would my colors begin to wash over you?
Would your lines blur?
Would you change your mind
about things you had named
Black and White?

Would you dream?

Would the pollen in that field
cause some sort of orgasmic nasal chain reaction,
Flying you into such-a-fit-of-sneezing-frenzy
that you would be forced
to bodily leave this plane
for just a moment?

And then…

Would your Spirit escape?

Would you hover above yourself
in this experience-out-of-body
and realize
how simply comical we seem?

You and I dancing around one another,
two tops spinning,
spattering lust
in hues of red rouged rosy blush.

All we need do
is slow down.

Imbibe in a night
of some indigo-inked-hush.

‘Cos you see:
I’ve pinned you.

And so I think I’d know you,
if I caught you.

If I caught you.
