5 Truths About Love That You Need To Know Before Getting Involved.

I used to have this twisted view on love…

I used to think that love was painful, dramatic, and volatile — that was all I really knew. You’d think I was raised in a volatile household, but I wasn’t. My house was solid, with its standard mix of family dramas, but overall, the love and support was there. It was I who had it twisted, and that was due to my lack of self-worth.

I always struggled with low self-worth; I never felt good enough, pretty enough, smart enough… I never felt as though I was worthy of a good partner. After my first marriage ended, I began to date and found myself settling in all my relationships.

These men would treat me like absolute crap… verbal abuse, emotional abuse, manipulations, lies, betrayal, alcohol, drugs… the list goes on. Yelling, screaming, begging, and crying felt normal to me; I honestly believed that these things were part of being in love, but now I know better.

I now understand the truth about love. After taking some time to find myself on what I call my Journey to Self-Love, I unleashed a new me. I gained a deep connection to the love within and greatly boosted my self-worth. That was when my husband walked into my life and changed all my views on love.

It was as if the Universe sensed that I was finally ready for real love, so it sent him to me, and he taught me what love was really supposed to feel like.

What is the truth about love? Let me tell you

Love Heals

Love doesn’t destroy us or break us down; love doesn’t hurt. Love doesn’t yell mean words or act in aggressive and abusive ways. Love is healing, opening, and expansive. It has the power to heal old wounds to create space for more love within us.

Love contains a beautiful, harmonious energy that drips into every cell of our bodies, reinvigorating our being.

Love Provides Clarity

Love isn’t confusing. It doesn’t lie to us or make up stories. It doesn’t cause anxiety or a sense of feeling lost. Love provides clarity — crystal-clear clarity. We feel confident with the love that we share and we understand its presence in our life. There is no confusion here, only love.

Love Inspires

Love isn’t boring or dissatisfying, it’s inspiring. When we’re with the right partner, the love shared will continuously inspire us to be the best person we can be. It will inspire us to work towards our goals and dreams while remaining passionate about our lives.

We learn from one another, support one another, and inspire one another to be our very best.

Love Lifts Us Up

Love will never drag us through the mud or bury us in the ground. It will never cause us shame or make us feel guilty. Love lifts us up and connects us to experience more joy and fulfillment in our lives. Love is uplifting, harmonious, and pleasurable in nature. It allows us to enjoy life at a whole new level.

Love Represents Unconditional Support

Love sees no conditions. It is strictly unconditional, unfaltering, unwavering, and completely solidified between both partners. Love has the ability to support us like no other feeling in this world. It’s solid and grounded, and becomes a constant in our lives.

Will there be tough times? Of course there will be. I will not lie and tell you that true love is absolutely perfect.

Life will always continue to ebb and flow, but the difference between experiencing tough times in a healthy relationship versus an unhealthy relationship is that in a healthy relationship, partners will always stand together, united, working towards the same goals. They won’t allow hardships, people, or experiences to tear them apart.

They’ll agree to work together to create a positive outcome. They’ll have arguments and misunderstandings, but those are things that they will work through without doubt, and with the full support of each other.

The truth about love is that love feels good. It’s just that simple. It’s a true, honest, feel-good feeling.

If we’re settling for something that feels less than good, that’s a sign that it’s time for us to look within and reflect on our relationship with self.
