A Grand Death, Rebirth, and an Eclipse to Remember.

All things come to an end. Nothing is permanent. Some things must die to be reborn, and August brings a grand finale.

It is the death of all deaths — the mother of all births — and the labor pains began about a month ago.

Think back to July 9 when there was a Full Moon in the sign of Capricorn. The moon at that time peaked close to the dwarf planet Pluto in the sky, also transiting Capricorn, and emboldened the lunar tides. Full moons bring a culmination of activity. Feelings bubble to the surface, and a great release is followed by climactic events.

Add Pluto to the mix, and there is a subtle, yet profound, transformation underway. It is the kind of transformation that slowly withers, and ultimately burns standing structures to the ground entirely — this is where the Phoenix will rise. Paired with a full moon, Pluto in Capricorn dismantles what we are emotionally attached to.

Whether it is an obsessive relationship, or an unhealthy ego, this is a process of undoing that persists until all is undone.

Think back to July 9 when there was a Full Moon in the sign of Capricorn. What events occurred in your life up to one week prior or after the Full Moon?

Astronomers may be on the fence about whether Pluto can still be considered a planet. But astrologers will always revere how the energy of this celestial body affects us on planet Earth. Pluto was the Roman god of the underworld, also known as Hades in Greek mythology. This planet is responsible for soul level evolution, that is, after we have died a little.

Pluto transits in our astrological birth charts show where we are to be stripped bare of falsities that delay our awakening. Even as Pluto transits Capricorn in the chart of the United States, it is easy to see how the status quo in this country — those institutions that claim to preserve life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness — are being torn apart, starting with the Office of the President.

What began around July 9 will be triggered by a partial lunar eclipse in the innovative sign of Aquarius on August 7. This will be another Full Moon taking us deeper into an unfolding that has already begun.

Aquarius is known for its symbol as the water-bearer in astrology, pouring ether (not water) into containers that house the collective consciousness of mankind. Ether represents spirit in astrology. It is the fifth element that transcends all elements, igniting a heightened state of awareness. As the moon moves into the Earth’s shadow during this lunar event, we too will rumble with our own shadows.

New revelations will alert us to new considerations. Our spiritual being-ness is currently on notice to evolve.

Thankfully, Aquarius energy is one of detachment. This lunation will serve as an opportunity to observe from a distance that which blocks our innate ability to manifest our deepest desires.

For Scorpio and Scorpio Rising, it may be emotional insecurities that get in the way of you pursuing professional ambitions. For Aries and Aries Rising, fears of rejection and group disownment might keep you from launching a personal creative venture.

For Capricorn and Capricorn Rising, inner doubts may sabotage a strong desire to take an important risk. For Cancer and Cancer Rising, certain emotional commitments may impede upon a desire to invest your resources in new commitments.

No matter your Zodiac sign, whatever shook you to your core last month is now ready for integration. You can make course corrections with a more objective lens should you embrace a changing reality.

The third and final act of this operatic month comes as a solar eclipse that will make its appearance on August 21 in the grandiose sign of Leo. In astrology, Leo the Lion is all heart, endowed with a fierce determination to put its stamp on the world. While there is a reputation for vanity and self-absorption, if we’re being honest, we would have to admit that there is a little Leo in all of us.

We each seek to be seen and accepted as unique individuals. We want to be acknowledged for what makes us special. Of course, demanding to be the center of attention can lead to our own demise. But Leo’s birthright is to stand out; this sign has the courage to be who it is, proud and all. That is precisely what this lunar cycle is encouraging us to do.

The solar eclipse can be seen throughout the entire Northern Hemisphere, a strong indicator that the show will go on.

For Leo and Leo Rising, there are no limits to what you can achieve. For Taurus and Taurus Rising, a dream home may be just within reach. For Virgo and Virgo Rising, a spiritual deepening of self is in store. For Sagittarius and Sagittarius rising, you have permission to fully step outside of your comfort zone.

This cosmic event is akin to a coming out party. What you embrace and integrate today will be what propels you into the spotlight tomorrow. Only a grand death will do. Only a grand rebirth can follow. This, indeed, will be an eclipse to remember.
