you & me

The Luckiest Woman in the World.

{source}

The spiritual life is not for the faint of heart.

I’m not sure where I heard this expression for the first time, but I know it resonates with me and my path of healing, learning, and processing pain.

Over the years, I’ve had the fortune of meeting all of my demons. Some continue to pop up, but I’m on a first-name basis with most. We’ve met through my mind, body and soul.

Along the way, different gurus have manifested to gently guide and nurture me. I’ve never been alone. Therapists, energy workers, psychics, mystics, friends, family, 12-step programs, Yoga, and mediations.

All have shown up to illuminate the different ways and places where the stories of abuse, mistreatment and trauma hid themselves in my vessel. I’ve chosen to go inside every doorway and dark corridor to meet them. To meet myself. This is where the healing is.

Through spiritual work, growth, patience, and processing, I’ve found a way to clear. To clear away the debris of what is not mine to hold anymore, and make space for what was there all along. My heart. Love. A fountain of essence where I am blissfully me. An internal celebration. A place where I can dance, radiate, and authentically be. I found the love and light that is my Source creation.

And I feel like the luckiest woman in the world… because I choose to be.

The Luckiest Woman in the World

To be the luckiest woman in the world, you have to fail.

To be the luckiest woman in the world, you have to cry. Merciless tears that break the very backbone of existence that you clung to. The one causing you such pain.

To be the luckiest woman in the world, you have to let go. To slip into surrender with each moon phase cycling you through destiny’s eye. Colliding with pain and grace. Catching your limp breath of awareness.

To be the luckiest woman in the world, you must be strong. A strength of heart that overpowers the muscle of a brute stare. Softly sinking into the wordless murmur of love’s guidance.

To be the luckiest woman in the world, you must be reborn. You must surrender to dark hallways and discomfort. Allowing grace to guide you. You must trust even when you cannot see.

To be the luckiest woman in the world, you must allow the presence of the infinite. You must see the good. Replacing negative thought patterns with truth.

You must trudge. Even when you don’t want to.

To be the luckiest woman in the world, you must wake up. Consciously stepping outside of your stories in order to see what’s real. To realize that nothing is real.

To be the luckiest woman in the world, you must concede you create your reality. Creation is you.

You must be willing to see the gifts. Because they abound. You must be willing to see your prisons of hurt, pain, physical discomfort, and sadness as gateways.

You must be wiling to set yourself free.
