The Sufi Path of Fana and the Twin Flame Journey.
“For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you.
Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning.

Love, it uncovers every blockage or darkness that we hold within our hearts, as we are ignited, illuminated and drawn onto a path that leads to our own inner personal integration.
Why is the twin soul journey so intense and asks us to give everything we have? It is because of what the twin soul journey truly signifies. The twin soul journey, and the connection you feel between yourself and another person in the physical world, is in reality an outer manifestation of an inner journey.
This journey is the path from separation consciousness (Devil energy) to unity consciousness (God energy). This is the path of inner integration of the Sacred Masculine and Divine Feminine within us all, regardless of gender, and to walk this journey is to walk what the Sufis called the ancient path of fana. The journey leading to the destruction of the ego, through the heart path of love.
Twin soul journeys appear in our life to illuminate for us and within us the original separation, that of God from Man. It is no accident that as humans we all feel a pull to be united in love with others, because in some way we all sense we are incomplete. But it is not the sense or need for another person that is our loss, but our original sense of loss or separation from our God-self. This is the actual return we long for.
If Devil energy is a manifestation of separation in the 3D reality, then this is the exact energy that will eventually aid us in our return to our God-self, and in that way Devil energy is not only our adversary but also eventually our redeemer, as it becomes the exact mechanism that shows us the way home.
It is through the experience of separation that we start to long for a return to a state of being what we instinctively know we once had.
When we grasp the full realization of the twin soul journey and the path of the heart, we come to see that what is actually being asked of us is that we journey into complete unification within us, union between and us and our inner God-self. This must take place within us before an outside union can manifest. As within, so without.
The stages of a twin soul journey reflect directly the path of fana. The Sufi teachings state that the initial journey begins with the glance. Two souls may already know each other, but until they are ready to become aware of the twin soul energy between them, the glance will not take place.
The glance is when two awakened souls look into each other’s eyes at a given moment and the energy exchange takes place. For the first time, they truly see each other. The Lover has seen the Beloved. This is the first awakened glance that sets both souls on fire and begins the path of fana. The energy is exchanged and now there is no going back. The path of fana has now been invoked.
Both souls have now stepped onto an ancient path as old as time itself, it is the path that uses the forces and power of love to destroy the ego-self which is steeped in the illusion of separation (Devil consciousness) and bring it into the full knowledge of unity (God consciousness).
The outside energy we experience with another embodied soul is symbolic of the journey within, so the glance is symbolic of our first taste of true union with our own embodied God consciousness. For the first time, our souls see and experience God.
The glance or energy exchange between two people is the first stage of unification through the path of fana. Once the glance has initiated the path between the two souls, we move into the phase of separation. After the glance, or the taste of union with our Beloved or God-self, we are thrust back again into darkness. But our soul has had a taste and now we start to yearn for what we once had.
The stage of separation is necessary. It is not possible at first to sustain union with our God-self and function properly in the world. There is always much work to be done within ourselves, identifying and healing the darkness or obstacles within, before our actual physical bodies can embrace union.
It is normal to go in and out of feeling utterly connected with our inner God-self and then to be thrown into confusion, bewilderment and darkness once again. And as within, so without, so also are these states of being reflected or manifested within our twin soul journey.
On the path of fana, the stage of separation sets up the Sacred Masculine as the Lover and the Divine Feminine as the Beloved. Keep in mind that these states of being have nothing to do with physical gender and we all step in and out of both roles.
In this stage, the Sacred Masculine steps into the role of the Hero and embarks on his quest for his Beloved (his God-self), for always there will be many obstacles that stand in his way. These are symbolic of the obstacles that actually reside within us, our own personal challenges or darkness.
The Divine Feminine steps into the role of the Beloved. She who abides passively in stillness while her Hero is in quest for her. The Divine Feminine sits in the stillness of the present moment, which is in itself a journey of trust, faith and patience. Patience in the wisdom and the knowledge that what she seeks (the God-self/Lover) is already within her. Patience that is not waiting.
This Patience is an energy of trust and faith that the ultimate outcome is already present and manifested. And she is called to be steadfast in this belief even when every outward manifestation is telling her otherwise. No easy task, which is why both parties will come in and out of both energies.
So at some stage the Feminine will step out of this energy and step into Masculine energy and go on a Hero’s quest seeking union, and the Masculine will step into the role of the Feminine and embody surrender and acceptance.
Both the Sacred Masculine and Divine Feminine need this stage in order to embody unification. Keeping in mind always that this is in truth an inner journey, we start to see how separation or Devil energy is an essential part of the path of unification towards Unity or God Consciousness, which is why I stated that the Devil energy in our 3D reality is at first our adversary and then our redeemer.
The reason for the stage of separation is very important. The separation stage sets up the energy of longing. Now that we have experienced our Beloved or God-self, we long for that state again. This longing becomes the cup waiting to be filled and speaks directly to our heart. Like a magnet, it forever pulls us homeward, to our Beloved, to our own God-self. Spirit and Matter made one. Embodied whole beings.
The truth of the pain in the physical separation that we may have with another soul, that we are currently unable to come into union with because of barriers that stand in the way, means that we come to the truth that the Lover and the Beloved (or in truth, the God-self) actually reside within.
Twin soul journeys force us to retreat within and realize that truth. Because we find there is nothing else we can do, we can’t come into union and the pain of separation is also an energy that cannot be sustained. So we learn to go within to find our peace and solace. And we learn the ultimate truth, that we were never separated from our God-self or our Beloved.
This energy always resided within us. Within our hearts. All that hides it is our personal journey of darkness. Our personal Devil energy. As we dissolve the barriers within, by going into our own darkness, illuminating our wounds for healing, we will manifest on the outside the truth we have built within.
This manifestation is a union in the physical. The inner union of Spirit and Matter become one, and the outer union of two whole beings coming together as the Alpha and Omega to fulfill a soul contract to embody in the physical a union that dispels the illusion of duality. Embodiment of the energy of the numbers 101, where Zero represents the No Thing (God consciousness), one represents The Beginning (duality).
101 represents two opposing forces coming together to reside in God consciousness, dispelling the illusions of duality. 101 is the numerical vibration of the path of the twin soul journey.
The two 1s represent coming into incarnation under the influence of duality (separation/devil) and the unification of these opposing forces by coming to a realization of the truth that we are one, represented by the 0 (unity, God consciousness, the No Thing).
